☯️ The Year of the Wood Dragon... Change is in the Air!!!The Lunar New Year arrives on February 10th, and this year is the year of the Wood Dragon. The transition into this new year has already begun with the change of seasons that occurred on February 4th (which is called Beginning of Spring). According to the Chinese Zodiac, which has 12 animals that measure the cycles of time, the Dragon is an Earth Element animal, and thus represents stability, perseverance, and power. But this year is not an Earth year. It's a Wood year, meaning it's a year where we can all expect a lot of change. Earth and Wood are opposites on the Chinese Sheng/Ke Cycle (see below), which means that Wood controls Earth. So for people who are compatible with Wood, such as the Fire Element people, this will be a great year because Fire makes Wood and Earth play nicely together. And if you were born in 1976, that makes you a Fire Dragon, which is incredibly amazing for this year. But if you were born in 1964, that makes you a Wood Dragon, which actually means you're kind of sitting in the hot seat... all eyes will be on you. And all that recognition, which normally you'd enjoy, may make you feel a little too seen and uncomfortable! People who are Chinese Zodiac Dogs, Rabbits, or Wood Dragons may need a little extra protection to avert the negative influences of this year on them. Jaye recently attended a Stone Medicine Class with Master Jeffrey Yuen, and he suggested to use the stones Chalcopyrite or Bornite. These stones are very high in copper & iron ore and have many fascinating qualities, including bringing energy up and transforming it! For all other Chinese Zodiac animal types (Monkey, Rat, Rooster, Snake, Horse, Tiger, Pig, Ox and Goat), this is a great year of opportunity--a year to regenerate and grow, and make big changes in life, like moving, getting married, or changing your career. When you combine the power of the Earth Dragon with Wood's ability to make change happen, it's easier for all of us to undergo the changes we want to make. As Alchemists, we can look at the influence of astrology as something to contemplate as we are already undergoing transformation and change in our practices. We feel it's not so much that the year is going to be a foregone conclusion of change. It's more about becoming aware of these astral influences, much in the way we work with the Starry Sky points on the body--it's an awareness of the macrocosm of the stars and our overall alignment with them. Small excerpt from our Upcoming Thirteen Ghost Points book...Due out May 2024!!!What are Ghosts?The term “ghost,” as we will be using it in our book, isn’t necessarily a supernatural entity or even Casper the Friendly Ghost, but rather anything that’s subverting your true essence in some way. Specifically, ghosts represent imprints left by past traumas, negative life experiences or relationships, or even just not fitting into your family or community. When you undergo these negative experiences, the “ghosts” get hooked into you and generate suffering. The reason you get hooked in the first place is that you have an opening for it, in the way that a fish has to bite a hook in order to get caught. Something in you invited the ghost to become hooked into you. The Ghost Points provide an opportunity to regain freedom from the hooks that hold us back from the authentic expression of our spirit and the authentic road we need to walk in life. If you believe in life after death and the possibility of disembodied entities potentially possessing a human (which is a real part of the Chinese Medicine belief system), then “ghosts” could also be real ghosts, the way we think of them–either friendly or demonic. The Thirteen Ghost Points treatment is also capable of “casting out demons,” so to speak. And if you believe an entity can possess a person, then as a practitioner, you will be indeed working with these ghosts. Part of the cultivation of the practitioner is to see these ghosts (called Gui in Chinese Medicine) as people too (even if they are disembodied). In this case, we have to learn to treat them with compassion as we would treat any other patient who enters our treatment room. In a modern day viewpoint, we believe it’s not that important to know what kind of “ghost” a person has, but more importantly that we have a tool (in the Thirteen Ghost Points protocol) to make a significant change when a person is struggling.
