The Daoist Alchemists of ancient China built their cauldrons to be extraordinarily strong and sturdy. The Alchemists understood that as human beings, we need the same kind of vessel inside in order to support transformation. In the Nine Stages of Alchemy, building that inner vessel/cauldron is the work of Stage Two, and its strength comes from self-love and a knowing of your own goodness. With a strong inner cauldron, wwe can receive criticism with an open heart, because the best defense is no defense.
